Laurie Mallet, President and CEO of Ozone Socks announced modestly that our companies long time trend of taking legwear out of the world of undergarments and putting socks into the world of fashion accessories had paid off in a big way.
“It’s tough for me to talk about huge successes when our industry is suffering. But Ozone’s sales are up 40% over last year and we have just filled two new top level positions.”
It took this economic retail recession to drive home our company’s long term ideology. Always a trend setter and innovator, Ms. Mallet’s Spring 2010 campaign emphasis the importance of totally updated one’s fashion wardrobe with a pair of cool and totally hip socks. The striking black and white photos with colorful socks make this point crystal clear. We took four classic beige dresses and four classic black dresses and changed only the legwear. It’s amazing what fashion socks can do.
This philosophy has garnered enthusiasm with a new more aware buying public, who are rushing to update wardrobes with a $20 investment in fashion hosiery.
Our stores have been sold out of Ozone socks, while sales of sweaters, slacks, and dresses have sagged. We have received an unprecedented amount of calls and emails thanking us for getting them through a really difficult retail season.
We are thrilled with the constant consumer acceptance of our Spring and Fall lines, it has been exciting for us at Ozone to show what an innovative statement a pair of fashion legwear can make for such a minor financial investment.
