2008 “My Socks are Your Socks” Winner Announced

Laurie Mallet, President and CEO of Ozone Design, the world’s leading maker of fashion socks, has just announced the winner of the annual My Socks are Your Socks competition.

The design competition, which began in 2007, is Ozone’s contribution to open platform design. “Ozone socks are about innovation in design so we love getting input from as many sources as possible,” said David Rood-Ojalvo, National Sales director.

“Socks are a fresh category in the world of fashion and an important one in this accesssory driven market. We love to be continually challenged in our design approach and this competition is great for that.”   “We were overwhelmed by the number of entries,” says Mallet who received sock designs from locations as far as Eastern Europe and Japan, “There were at least 10 times more than in the previous years. It was so difficult for us to make our final decision that we awarded a first, second and third place.”

The Winning design was submitted by Dolores Poacelli an artist living in Philadelphia. Dolores received a $ 250 prize and her choice of 12 pairs of Ozone socks.

“Ozone Definition was a natural for us. The way we dress is an extension of our spirit and soul and socks are as much about fashion as any other article of clothing. They’re windows into who we are or who we want to be. Definition allows for a new level of expression,” said Mallet, who has always been a trendsetter in the fashion industry. Definition allows for a higher level of personal expression. Socks have always come in pairs, the way one wears them is predetermined but with Definition this is no longer the case. In the past the consumer was given the freedom to choose colors and designs but never the freedom to decide how they want to wear the socks they buy. Ozone Design thought that it was finally time to change that. With Definition the person who wears the sock is not only free to make their own decision about how they want to wear the socks but encouraged to do so.

In today’s world so much of what we wear is predetermined by what is appropriate, determined by where we are going and who we are meeting- we are given uniforms and dress codes and with Definition we are able to add our own mark.


Ozone Riders: For That Little Bit of Bad in All of Us

Bikers are scrambling to get Ozone Design’s new line of motorcycle socks onto their feet. Ozone Riders, making their wholesale debut at the 2008 V-Twin Expo by Easyriders, are the brainchild of Laurie Mallet, President and CEO of the hottest sock company around, Ozone Design, Inc.

“Ozone Riders were a natural for us. My husband and I are long time collectors of tattoo flash. We introduced our first tattoo socks 3 years ago and they have been a huge success,” said Laurie, who has always been a trendsetter in the fashion industry. Her company Willi Wear was a worldwide success and pioneered the combination of art and fashion. “My husband, a long time collector of vintage motorcycles, conceived of the idea after attending last year’s motorcycle show in New York.”

Ozone Riders are built for the demands of long distance riding, as well as the comfort of lounging at home. They are constructed of natural cotton fiber for strength and breathability, and for the fabric’s comfortable, soft hand. Ozone socks are constructed at the highest industry standard with heels, toes, seams and designs all knit into the socks. Ozone cotton is blended with spandex for stretch, and nylon for durability.

Ozone Design’s new line of marine socks has boaters racing to get them on their feet.  Ozone Marine, debuting at the 2007 New York National Boat Show, is the brainchild of Laurie Mallet, President and CEO of Ozone Design Inc., the innovator of the hottest line of fashion socks around.

“Ozone Marine was a natural for us. My husband and I are long time collectors of nautical tattoo flash. We introduced our first marine tattoo socks 3 years ago and they have been a huge success,” said Laurie who has always been a trendsetter in the fashion industry. Her first company Willi Wear was a worldwide success and pioneered the combination of art and fashion.

“My husband, a long time yachtsman conceived of the idea after attending last year’s boat show… we are either taking off our shoes when boarding or we are asking our guests to do the same,” Laurie continued,  “It would be great to have some cool socks on our feet.”

“When we introduced our shoe socks years ago they were an immediate hit with the boating fraternity. Having shoes knitted into the socks made us extremely popular both on boats and in Japanese restaurants. They did not however make us popular at airport security checkpoints.”

The new line includes: Compass Rose, Anchors, Props, Deck Shoes and British Sailor Stripes.
